The curriculum of Master in Engineering – Telecommunications, assigned to Engineering Faculty, headquarters Bogota, is offered trough Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering , which directs the academic management.
In the new world order, wealth and welfare have been generated mainly by the information . Within this means, telecommunications play a main role to the point of becoming in the most dynamic element in economical, technical and legal areas.
The Telecommunications area is characterized for profound and rapid changes within a globalization and liberalization of environmental, subscribed by convergence of services and interconnection of networks.
The National University of Colombia, according to social function and knowledgeable of the strategic role of telecommunications in development of the country , in generation of material and culture wealth, has created the Master in Telecommunications, according to national and regional reality and within the spirit of nowadays.

Train researchers to solve telecommunications problems, through participation in projects development of research and development, through a thesis work that represents an original and technological input.
The Master is structured in four semesters, seeking to provide an integral training in Telecommunications and provide spaces for professional development according to tendencies and particular interests of students
The Current Curriculum of Master in Engineering – Telecommunications was created by Agreement 020 Act No. 8 of December 19th, 2000 of Academic Council
Plan de Estudios Maestría en Ingeniería - Telecomunicaciones Curriculum structure is conformed by:
- Thesis Project - 10 Credits
- Master’s Thesis - 40 Credits
- Research Seminars (correspond to 2 seminars) - 4 Credits
- Basic Subjects (correspond to 3 subjects) - 12 Credits
- Elective Subjects ( belong to the curriculum) - 16 Credits
The time estimated for ending studies with full time dedication, is two years.
In the first half is given the basic training required for a student in Master in Telecommunications.
During second and third semesters research subjects are emphasized and in fourth semester ends research developed by the student during his stay in the Master Program.
